Factory-built and manufactured housing are two very different products despite the obvious similarities of being constructed in a factory.

What's the Difference?

While both products represent a type of manufactured structure, each product utilizes an entirely different set of construction codes and standards, legal and regulatory requirements, and administrative processes.

Factory-Built / Modular
– CBC Code –

Factory-built, as it is officially referred to in California, is synonymous with the term “Modular” in other States.  In California, these homes are built to the California Building Code (CBC)
